"Here a student can pursue basic astronomy, make a telescope mirror, and even, prepare for life as a space colonist," he says. "Working with the Chicago Board of Education, we have a Wednesday afternoon class for gifted high school students. It utilizes all the facilities of the Sky Theater. "The Astro-Science Astro-Science Astro-Science Workshop for top students initiated by the Chicago Planetarium Society, under the direction direction of Northwestern University's Dr. J. Allen Hynek, still meets on Saturday mornings. There is one difference. It is now under our directorship, though Northwestern professors participate." Evening courses also play a large part in Adler's program. "While we are primarily geared to the noncredit student," student," Carlson says, "we have college-level college-level college-level courses offered on a credit option arrangement with De Paul University, Columbia College, and the Art Institute.
