Outrich, 10314 (Chtragn 3ath, CTrtliunr' OBITUARIES Norman Williams The funeral of Norman Williams, 82, formerly of 199 Lake Shore vice president of Chalmers Williams, defunct Chicago mining and crushing machinery manufacturer, will be held today in Woodstock, where he had lived since his retirement in 1940 and where he died Sunday. A native of Chicago, he was graduated from Yale university in 1896. His widow, Margaret, survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Mrs.

F. Hamilton Merrill of Woodstock; a son, Norman of New York City; and three step-children, Mrs. Reynold M. Crane and Edwin H. Parkhurst of Cleveland, and John Bright Parkhurst of Dr.

John Adam Wolfer Dr. John Adam Wolfer, 74, of Banning, professor emeritus of surgery and director of the tumor clinic at the Northwestern university medical school, died yesterday in his home, Chicago friends were notified. Dr. Wolfer, who received the honor medallion of the Illinois division of the American Cancer society in 1950 for outstanding work in cancer control, was graduated from the Northwestern medical school in 1908 and began teaching surgery there in 1910. He was a former attending surgeon a Passavant Memorial and Cook county hospitals, was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and was past president of the Northwestern university medical school alumni association.

William Lowe Bryan, 95, president emeritus of Indiana university, died here today in his home on the university campus. Dr. Bryan, who was pres ident of the university Bryin from 1902 until his retirement in 1937, became critically ill 10 days ago. lie had been forced last March by failing health to abandon daily campus walks he had been making for more than 65 years. As president emeritus, a title bestowed by the university trustees upon his retirement, he continued to live in the president's home on the cam pus.

His wife, Charlotte, died in 1948 at the age of 81. They had no. children. Son of a Minister Dr. Bryan was born on a farm near Bloomington Nov.

11, 1860, son of a United Presbyterian minister. He entered the university in 1880, receiv ing a bachelor's degree in 1884, and immediately began a teaching career as an instructor in Greek at the university. In the next eight years he pursued graduate studies in philosophy and psychology at various European universities, ieceiving a doctor of philosophy degree in 1892. He became head of the Indiana university department of philosophy and psychology in 1887. In this capacity "he established a psychological labora-tory where he worked out a theory of the curve of learning, establishing that learning proceeds thru different stages at different rates.

Championed Athletics In thp 35 years of his presidency he administered an expansion program which included establishment of schools of medicine, dentistry, journalism, commerce, and music and the founding of an late Charles R. JUSTICE, DIES St. Petersburg, Nov. 21 LTl Aaron Jefferson Levy, 74, former New York State Supreme court justice, died today of a heart attack. Levy retired in 1951 and became a court referee handling much the same kind of cases as before. He quit in 1953 after an investigation by the state crime commission.

Testimony pictured him as spending $400,000 while making less than as a judge; improperly discussing a case with a defendant, end handing thousands of dollars in court patronage to a son-in-law, David E. Frankenstein. 12 it.
