STEFFAN, GLORIA HOFBAUER Gloria Hofbauer Steffan, of Mundelein, IL formerly of Hegewisch, IL and Plymouth, IN passed away at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois Wednesday, March 9, 2011in her 85th year. She was born in Chicago, IL on Oct. 2, 1925, daughter of the late George and Elda Helps. Gloria attended Fenger High School Class of ’44 in Chicago, worked at AT&T during WWII and later owned and operated the G&G Campground in Plymouth, Indiana in the 1970s and 80s. She was active in various women’s groups in Plymouth, IN and Mundelein, IL including TOPS and the Red Hats. Gloria was the beloved mother of Kurt (Carol) Hofbauer, Robin (John Stewart) Serafin; and grandmother of Chad Serafin, Robbie Hofbauer, Alisa Porter, Patricia Stewart, Amy (Ed) Knittel and Stephanie (Kevin Brown) Stewart; born and predeceased by her husbands Robert Hofbauer and George Steffan; dear sister of Nancy Kiefer of Plymouth, IN; Gloria will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Blake Lamb Funeral Home , 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn, on Friday, March 11, 2011, from 4 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Reverend John Beck officiating. Memorial contributions may be left in her name to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation or the Urological Research Foundation.
