A resident of the Near North Side, she died Tuesday at home. 94, clothing Ann Dee Harper, 47, advocate for the homeless Ann Dee Harper, 47, was an activist on issues covering the homeless in the Uptown community and a strong force in the Center for Street People, now Harper House. She was a former staff director of Voice of the People, in Uptown a family housing development organization in the community.

Harper House is named for her husband, James, who died in 1983. He founded it as a drop-in center for street people.
