In 1982 Illinois Circuit Judge Albert Green upheld a Morton Grove ordinance banning handguns.

In 1997, threatened with dozens of lawsuits, America Online agreed to give refunds to frustrated customers unable to log on after AOL had offered a flat rate. ASSOCIATED PRESS LONDON -Anthony Glyn, grandson of racy Edwardian novelist Elinor Glyn who became an acclaimed author in his own right, has died. He was 75. Mr. Glyn died Jan.

20 of congestive heart failure at his home in southern France, said his wife, Susan. Born Geoffrey Davson in London in 1922, he was the first son of a baronet with business interests in sugar, cattle and timber in the West Indies. He served in the British army in World War II, then joined the family business, working as a factory hand, cowboy, sugar planter and sawmill manager before moving into management. Back in London in the mid1950s, his bohemian side began to emerge. He informed his astonished wife one morning at breakfast, "We're changing everything." That included changing his name to Anthony Glyn.

"He became a typical author, starving in a garret," recalled his wife. "We lived in absolute poverty, but we were very happy." He launched his writing career with two novels, "Romanza" (1953) and "The Jungle of Eden" (1954). In 1955, he wrote a biography of Elinor Glyn, his beautiful mater: nal grandmother whose saucy novels titillated Edwardian society. The biography became a best seller in the United States. Known for her habit of lounging in provocative clothing on tiger skin rugs, she inspired the poem: "Would you like to With Elinor On a tiger skin? Or would you To err with On some other fur?" She also was credited with being the first person to refer to sex appeal as Most critics regard Mr.

Glyn's "The Dragon Variation" (1969) as the most successful novel about the game of chess and his most accomplished work. His other books include "A Companion. Guide to Paris," published in 1986. "The Blood of a Britishman" (1970), a lighthearted survey of the British character, was a big success in the U.S. under the title "The British." Mr.

Glyn also is survived by a' daughter. Walter Edmonds; wrote 'Drums Along the Mohawk' ASSOCIATED PRESS UTICA, -Author Walter D. Edmonds, best known for the classic story, "Drums Along the Mohawk," died Saturday at age 94. The story of the settling of the Mohawk Valley during the years of the American Revolution was Mr. Edmonds' most successful book.

It was a bestseller for two years and second in popularity during that time only to "Gone With the Wind." In 1939, it became a movie directed by John Ford and featuring Henry Fonda and Claudette Colbert. Another of Mr. Edmonds' novels, "Rome Haul," was rewritten as the Broadway play "'The Farmer Takes a Wife," and a movie version of that novel starred Fonda and Janet Gaynor. "Chad Hanna," originally done in installments for Saturday' Evening Post as "Red Wheels Rolling," was a circus story set in central New York and published in 1940. It, too, became a movie, starring Fonda, Dorothy Lamour and Linda Darnell.

Mr. Edmonds wrote many short stories and children's books, including "The Matchlock written in 1941. The story, which told of how a 10-year-old boy in colonial New York defended his home against attacking Indians, won the Newbery Award for children's literature. His final effort, "Tales My Father Never Told," was published in 1995. To place your Fraternal Notice, call (312) 222-2222 OBERDIECK Irene M.
