A longtime resident of Highland Park and later Chicago, Mrs.

Morency moved to Mexico after she retired. For the past 15 years she was active as a member of the board of directors for the Illinois Humane Society, a group that serves disadvantaged children. Other survivors include another daughter, Carolyn Morency Bauer; four grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. A memorial service was held in Mexico. of died Feb. 27 of cancer in her home in Mexico. Mrs. Morency earned her master's and doctorate degrees in educational psychology from U. of C.

and was on the faculty there for about 20 years before retiring in 1982. She became interested in educational psychology while working as a volunteer at Hines Veterans Hospital near Maywood in the 1950s. One of the patients there had a head injury that left her unable to formulate normal sentences, and the case intrigued Mrs. Morency. As a result, she began taking night courses at the U.

of C. while also caring for three children and continuing her volunteer work at Hines. Wilmette surgeon Warren By Sue Ellen Christian Tribune Staff Writer Dr. Warren A. Clohisy Jr.

of Wilmette, a prominent surgeon in the Chicago area for more than 50 years, died Wednesday in Evanston Hospital. Dr. Clohisy was professor emeritus of surgery at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood. Dr. Clohisy developed and operated a general surgical practice with an emphasis in occupational injuries.

Over his years of practice, he was chief of staff at Alexian Brothers Hospital when the hospital was located in Chicago, the now closed Augustana Hospital and Health Care Center of Lincoln Greek who was jailed in American Her dedication to her career and family became an inspiration to her children, especially because she tackled both at a time when few women worked if they didn't need to. Her late husband, Joseph Morency, was a prominent attorney. "My mother was a very unusual mother," said her daughter Catherine Morency. "We had an unconventional household and an unconventional mother who pursued her intellectual dreams and fulfillments and yet still managed to take great care of us. "She just wasn't the PTA or garden-club type.

She needed intellectual stimulation, and I think she needed to help other people." After earning her master's degree, Mrs. Morency worked at the U. of C. speech and language clinic, helping to identify language difficulties in children and adults. Once she finished her doctorate, she moved to the university's children's hospital, where as a pediat Park, Cook County Hospital and St.

Joseph Hospital and Health Care Center of Chicago, said family members. Dr. Clohisy graduated from Loyola Academy and Loyola University and received his medical degree from the Northwestern University School of Medicine. He completed surgical residencies at several institutions, including County Hospital, the National Cancer Institute in Washington, Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore and Memorial Hospital in New York. He also did a surgical fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where he met his wife, Marguerite, a nurse anesthetist Dr.

Clohisy was in the U.S. der of Polk, a CBS reporter covering the Greek civil war between communist and nationalist forces. Mr. Staktopoulos, who steadfastly maintained his innocence, was freed in 1960. No other suspects were tried.

Many historians and researchers believe Mr. Staktopoulos was made a scapegoat by authorities worried about a deeper inquiry into the killing. Polk's body was found in Salon- Robert H. Cowan Robert H. Cowan, 77, an engineer who was an expert in robotics and computer-aided manufacturing, died Tuesday at the Portsbridge Hospice in Dun-woody, Ga.

Born in Chicago, Mr. Cowan earned his engineering degree at the University of Illinois before entering the Army Air Firces in World War II. He was a first lieutenant and a B-17 bomber pilot. After the war, Mr. Cowan worked for Hughes Aircraft, West-inghouse and Unimation.

He retired as a vice president of marketing for Snow Manufacturing, a machine-tool company in Bell-wood. He was a frequent speaker in the machine-tool industry on the topics of robotics, numerical control and computer-aided manufacturing. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; four daughters, Nancy Williamson, Mary Fincher, Joan Coonrod and Carol Joseph; three sons, Robert, Thomas and John; and 18 grandchildren.
