Prospect, was a retired manager of contract administration and vice president of sales for Kleinschmidt Deerfield, a computer service company. Mr.

Vehe, who was born in Evanston, died July 9 in Wisconsin. Mr. Vehe was a nationally recognized volunteer for speed skating and cycling organizations. Mr. Vehe attended Armstrong School in Rogers Park and graduated from New Trier High School in 1940.

He got a bachelor's degree in history in the 1940s from Duke University, where he was a member of the basketball team. In 1957 he earned a certificate in industrial management from the Industrial Management Institute at Lake Forest College. Mr. Vehe served on a Navy troop ship in the Pacific during World War II. After the war he earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University in 1950.

He retired in 1971, after 21 years with Kleinschmidt where he had been vice president of sales since 1957. After retirement from Kleinschmidt he worked as a became interested in the sport when his sons began skating and was one of the organizers of Mt. Prospect Skating Club in the early 1970s. "He was the coordinator of the Mt. Prospect speed skating compe-.

titions for 20 years," said Markland. Markland said that Mr. Vehe was also instrumental in helping develop a summer cycling event in Northbrook into a major North American cycling competition. Mr. Vehe compiled, and for the last 25 years published handbooks for both speed ed-skating and cycling competitions.

He was also editor for the past 10 years of Racing Blade, the magazine of the Amateur Speedskating Union. Hallett, 82, of Arlington Heights, a longtime volunteer, died Tuesday in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Born in Harvard, Mrs.

Hallett was a dental assistant before she married and moved to Chicago, where she raised her family. Mrs. Hallett was a homemaker who also volunteered her time in activities that she could share with her children. Eleanore M. Knight Eleanore M.

Knight, 81, of Pala- tine and formerly of Rolling Meadows died Tuesday in her home. Mrs. Knight, who was born in North Dakota, was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rolling Meadows. "She just absolutely loved traditional worship," said Rev. Robert Giese, pastor at Trinity Lutheran.

Giese said Mrs. Knight participated in the discussions in 1954 that led to the founding of the church the next year. Survivors include two daughters, Arlene Crittenden and Peggy Ann Cuttler; a son, Martin; two sisters, Helen Christiansen and Irene Hindermith; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Cindy Death Notices BAISE Vashti F. "Vi" Baise, 79, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday morning, July 15, 1998, at Barton W. Stone Christian Home. She was born on Sept. 4.

1918, in Cumberland County, KY, the daughter of. William Berris and Lydia Goff Compton, She married W.K. "Mac" Baise on Dec. 19, 1936 in Columbia, KY, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1993.

She is survived by sons Gary Howard (Ann) Baise of McLean. VA, a partner in the law firm Baise, Miller and Freer of Washington, DC and Gregory (Tonya) Baise of Lemont, President of Illinois Manufacturers Association; six grandchildren; two-great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara "Neva" Roncarti and Nancy Berman, both of Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by brothers Wayne and John Louis, sister Nina Keren and grandson Alan Baise. Mrs. Baise had been employed at Illinois School for the Deaf in the Dietary Department for 35 years.

She was a member of Concord Christian Church and the Concord Ladies Aid. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Saturday at Concord Christian Church, where the remains will lie in state one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

She was a Girl Scout and Brownie troop leader in Chicago and served as president of the Parent Teachers Association for both McPherson Grammar School and Amundsen High School in Chicago. "She did a lot of things, mostly for her kids and her grandchildren," recalled her daughter, Ruthann Normann. In 1960 Mrs. Hallett moved to Arlington Heights, where she was a longtime member and Sunday school teacher at the First Presbyterian Church. Heights died Monday in Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights.

Born in Chicago, Mrs. Rolfs owned and operated Elmer's White Rock grocery in Norridge with her husband, Elmer, for 30 years. She was a former resident of Norridge and Chicago. In 1965, Mrs. Rolfs retired to Sarasota, Fla.

She moved to Arlington Heights in 1969 after the death of her husband. "She had a wonderful personality," recalled one of her daughters, Barbara Epifano. "She enjoyed life and her family, and she had a great sense of humor." Other survivors include three more daughters, Carol Price, June Wilczewski and Joan Ausland; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a great great-great-grandchild.
