Funeral Monday. Sent. Major Companies Affected. Principal companies affected are the Peoples Gas, Light and Coke, Commonwealth Edison, Illinois Bell Telephone, Chicago Surface Lines, and Western Union. Peoples Gas estimates its total costs at the Edison company, $1,537,000.

Telephone officials say they will require nearly $1,000,000, making the total cost of the three companies approximately 5 millions. The surface lines' relocating costs will run upward of $500,000, according to engineers. Western Union will require a much smaller outlay. Philip Harrington, commissioner of subways and traction, said yesterday that nearly all of the relocating work will take place in connection with building of the subway's twenty-five mezzanine station platforms.
