They are members of a service unit commanded by Brig. Gen. Em-mett O'Donnell Jr who led the first B-29 striking force from Saipan to bomb Tokyo's aviation industry Nov. 21, 1941. The work of these men and their fellow soldiers Is directly responsible for the success of the B-29s in bombing Japan's war Industries." Gen.

Rellis, his nose broken in the landing, stepped into a life raft with his gunner and soon was met by guerrillas in sail boats, who took them to the beach, where an armed band of guerrillas waited. Eventually six more Americans joined the party, and during the live weeks they were moved from shore to plain to mountains and back again, always one jump ahead cf the Japs, until arrangements for evacuation were completed. A native Chicagoan, Ensign Rellis attended Schurz High school and Wright Junior college before entering the navy in April, 19U. lie worked up from the ranks, transferred to aviation, and went overseas last June. He wears the Asiatic ribbon with four battle stars, and the Philippines ribbon with three.
