SENTENCED FOR TAX FRAUD DIES New York, Aug. 4 Special Sam uel Greenberg, 59, clothing manufac turer who had been sentenced to a year in prison for failing to pay state income taxes, died early today from what police said was an overdose of sleeping tablets.

He left a note saying he had been prosecuted because he refused to help authorities in discrediting his friend. Supreme Court Justice Thomas A. Aurelio. Greenberg died In Knickerbocker hospital 15 hours after he had been found unconscious in his home with two partly emptied bottles of sleeping tablets at his side. He was to have surrendered yesterday to begin serving his term.

The note left by Greenberg charged that District Atty. Frank S. Hogan and General Sessions Judge John A. Mullen had plotted to put him be hind the bars because he wouldn't help them prove Aurelio had the support of gambling interests in Aurelio's election to the Supreme court. Hogan, replying to the note, said Greenberg failed to take the stand in his own defense during his trial and did not offer any proof to contradict the facts established by witnesses and his own records.

Greenberg had been sentenced by Mullen for failing to pay state taxes totaling $15,000 on a $210,000 income. WOMA TRAVELER TAKES POISON A traveler Identified as Mn. Ida D. Bour-dreau, 40, nf 64 Holm Framlngham. wi found uneonscioua from pot (mn In a rest room of the La.
