The big night of the carnival will be April 7th, and will include a dinner for visiting fishermen, parades, and other entertainment.

The smelt run from Lake Michigan up the streams which flow into the big lake has developed into one of the big events of the season for towns in northern Wisconsin and Michigan. As millions of the little fish move up the creeks and rivers, it is possible to dip them out of the water with any kind of a net.
