BODIES OF TWO SHOTDOWN BY REDS RETURNED Washington, Feb. 6 UP) The bodies of three American officers, killed when Russian fighters shot down their unarmed training plane after it strayed into East Germany, were returned home today. High-ranking air force officials and members of Congress were at nearby Andrews air force base to pay homage when the jet transport which brought them back arrived. Secretary of the Air Force Eugene M. Zuckert expressed sympathy to the wives, children, and parents of the three.

He told them the three officers "were stationed in Europe in the defense of the free world and, thru a brutal act, became victims of the cold war." The first flag-covered coffin brought from the plane was that of LL Col. Gerald K. Hannaford of Austin, Tex. Airmen then brought the coffin of Capt. John F.
