4 Chicago Tribune, Tuesday, September 23, 1975 Obituaries Rev. James R. Keane Mass for the Rev. James R. Keane, 74, will be at noon Tuesday in Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica, 3141 W.

Jackson Blvd. Father Keane died Friday at the Servite Monastery in Ladysmith, Wis. He was the founder and former national director of the Novena to Our Sorrowful Mother, a more weekly than prayer 700,000 service, worshippers attended at 1,000 by churches thruout the United States. Father Keane was voted the most popular Irishman: in Chicago in 1940. He is survived by his stepmother, Mrs.

Mary D. Keane; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Walsh. Jack A. Downes Mass for Jack A.

Downes, 77, of 1452 W. School will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 3546 N. Paulina St.

Mr. Downes, a retired laundry employe, died Saturday in the araparty, Manor Nursing Home. Survivors include four sons, Jackie, Raymond, Edward, all Chicago policemen, and Leonard; six daughters, Mrs. Mary Arnold, Mrs. Esther Mallamad, Mrs.

Julie Schnoor, Mrs. Peggy Wolfe, Mrs. Kathleen Musker Stevens, and Mrs. Patricia Nemes; 37 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Henry J.

Price Jr. Henry J. Price 44, public informaton officer for the Federal Drug Enforcement Commission and former aide to Sen. Lowell Weicker died Monday in Central Du Page Hospital, Winfield. An ex-newspaperman, Mr.

Price had worked for the New York Daily News and United Press Internatonal in New York City. He at $8416 Shagbark Glen Ellyn. Surviving are his widow, Dianne; two daughtors, Maryanne and Lee Ann; and a son, Henry J. Ill. Funeral services are pending.

Sister Mary Marguerite Treacy Mass for Sister Mary Marguerite Treacy, a retired Order of Providence nun who taught in 'a number of Chicago schools, will be Wednesday in St. Mary of the Woods, the mother house for the order, where she died Sunday. A native of Chicago, Sister Mary MarguerIte taught for 48 years. Schools where she taught include Providence High School and St. Angela's and St.

Sylvester's elementary schools. She is survived, by a sister, Mrs. Angelene McGreal. Services for Mrs. Sadie Alfred, 84, of 1535 W.

Farwell retired head cashler for the Sears, Roebuck Co. State Street store, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the family lot at Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 W. Montrose Av. Mrs.

Alfred died Sunday in Northeast Community Hospital. She retired from Sears, Roebuck in the late 1950s. She previously was cashier the old 5100 Club at 5100 N. Broadway. A sister, Mrs.

Kate Strauss, survives. Mrs. George Keough A memorial mass for Mrs. Bernice Keough, 72, of 6743 N. Newgard will be at 10 a.m.

Saturday in St. Jerome Church, 1709 W. Lunt Av. Mrs. Keough, who died last Saturday in her home, was the wife of George Keough, an auto salesman for 40 years.

Also surviving are three sons, George Joseph and William two daughters, Mrs. Mary Peters and Mrs. Irene Gormaly; 18 grandchildren; and two great children. Ruben Fortner Services for Rueben Fortner, operator of a newsstand at 103d Street and Cottage Grave Avenue, will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Lilydale First Baptist Church, 649 W.

113th St. Mr. Fortner, 66, died Friday in his home. He was a retired employe of Youngstown Sheet Tube East Chicago, Ind. Surviving are his widow, Darsee; two sons, Karl and Kenneth, both in the U.S.

Marine and a daughter, Marjorie Ann. Elizabeth M. Lauer A funeral mass for Miss Elizabeth M. Lauer, 70, who died Sunday in Ingalls Memorial Hospital, Harvey, will be Wednesday in 'Spring Valley. She lived at 14047 Tracy Riverdale, and until her retirement in 1957 was part owner of the Lauer Sisters' Restaurant in Chicago.

Survivors include three sisters, Dora Gaeta, Mrs. Clara Olsen, and Mrs. Marie McEachern. John R. Weltin John R.

Weltin, 91, died Monday at St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, Mr. Weltin, of 6418 N. Newgard was a retired Tribune linotype operator. Surviving are his widow, Ada; a son, William a daughter, Mary Ann Hultman; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mass will be said 10 a. m. Thursday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 6559 N. Glenwood Av.
