Hinsdale may yield to big business after 02 years by selling its municipal owned power plant to the Edison company's Public Service division for $1,430,000. Electric service competition has been nil since the power plant virtually was placed in the lap of the suburb by a wise village government maneuver in the 1890s. Since the recent building boom Hinsdale is in need of electric supply expansion and the most expeditious method is to sell to Public Service, village board, members say. The board studied the situation last fall and decided there were three alternative solutions. The village could foot the bill, dispose of portions of its outlying system, or sell.

According to Theodora M. Wardwell, village manager, Public Service was invited to make an offer for the pqwer plant. After several weeks of negotiation the million dollar offer was made. Petitions ICC The Edison company recently petitioned the Illinois com-merce commission for permission to supply the village elec tncity. ICC must grant permission for the company to ir inr inniiM uti submit a bid.
