By Diane Amann A CATHOLIC priest asked mourners et a funeral mass Thursday for Rita Hopkinson, a first-year medical student, to pray for the man who killed her. Miss Hopkinson, 22, of 228 N. Mason was stabbed to death Sunday in the Austin Avenue station by a man who is still free. While Oak Park police released a composite drawing of Miss Hopklnson's assailant, 300 friends and family attended mass for her in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 38 N.

Austin Oak Park. The Rev. James Hagan, in giving the homily, described Miss Hopkinson as a Harold B. Ilollek Services for Harold B. Hollek, 52, of 9534 N.

Lock wood Skokie, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel at 9200 N. Skokie Skokie. Mr. Ilollek, who died Wednesday in Northwestern Memorial Hospital, was a compositor at The Chicago Tribune for the last 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Shirky; a daughter, Barbara; a son, Lee; and two brothers. Dr. W. Maurice Winston Services for Dr. W.

Maurice Winston, 80, of 15135 Fifth Phoenix, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the New Covenant Baptist Church, at 15213 Fifth in the suburb. Dr. Winston was a practicing physician in the south suburbs with offices in Harvey and Robbins, for more than 50 years. He died Tuesday in In-galls Memorial Hospital, Harvey.

Survivors are his wife, Martha; a daughter, Willa a son, Ronald; two grandchildren; and a sister. Dorothy Estelle Wolfram Services for Dorothy Estelle Wolfram, 74, a retired dress designer, will be held Saturday in the Faster Largo Memorial Chapel, Largo, Fla. Miss Wolfram, who lived in Largo, died there Wednesday. A native of Racine, she designed dresses for garment centers in Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Dallas.

She also traveled extensively throughout Murderer's attorney cites 26 reasons for new trial Santa Barbara, where she and her husband lived in recent years. Mrs. Nyholm was considered an expert curator of manuscripts and organized the Newberry's extensive manuscript collection, which includes the works of many prominent 20th Century writers. In addition to her husband, Jens, who was the Nor-thhwestern University librarian from 1944 to 1968, Mrs. Nyholm is survived by a sister.

The Rev. C. Edward Stengel Mass for the Rev. C. Edward Stengel, 82, a former mathematics teacher at St.

Rita High School, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the St. Rita Monastery, 6310 Claremont Av. Father Stengel, who died Wednesday in St Monica's Seminary, Oconomowoc, taught at St. Rita High from 1941 to 1944, from 1953 to 1956, and from 1965 to 1968.

He also had been a teacher, prior, and procurator at a number of other Roman Catholic educational institutions. He is survived by a brother, the Very Rev. Raymond Stengel; and a sister, Helen Burk-hart. Miss Helen Peterson A memorial service for Miss Helen Peterson, of 2606 Bennett Evanston, retired manager of a showroom in the Merchandise Mart, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church, 607 Lake Evanston.

Miss Peterson died Sunday in Evanston Hospital. Surviving are two sisters and a niece with whom she lived. Rev. John W. Bierl The Rev.

John W. Bieri, 75, a former teacher and administrator at the Loyola University Medical School and St. Ignatius College Prep, died Thursday in a hospital in Pontiac, Mich. Father Bieri, a native of Peoria, joined the Jesuit order in 1920 and was ordained a priest in 1933. His academic field was philosophy and physics.

He served as regent of the law school and school of commerce and director of the evening programs at the University of Detroit from 1938 to 1944. From 1944 to 1951 he was rector and president of St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago. He became student counselor at the Loyola Medical School here in 1951, taught medical ethics and later became professor emeritus of philosophy. He also was superior of the Jesuit community at Loyola University from 1959 to 1965 and served as a Loyola trustee from 1955 to 1971, when he retired.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Madonna della Strada chapel on Loyola's lakeshore campus. There are no immediate survivors. the world. She was a founder where he had gwe to meet his wife mer president of the Garfield Park Dome Dwellers Art Group, and a life member of the Art Institute of Chicago, where her paintings have been exhibited.

She also was active in Hull House work until moving to Largo 12 years ago. Miss Wolfram is survived by a brother, Raymond. after the killings. Victor A. Miller, chairman of the Wisconsin Board of Attorneys, asked for the joint meeting, according to Victor M.

Harding, vice chairman of the state judicial comimission. The officials have questioned why no lawyer was appointed to represent Nelson at the hearing when he had asked to talk to his attorney. Deaths THE ATTORNEY FOR Simon Nelson, convicted of murdering his six children in their Rockford home, Thursday filed a motion for a new trial. Public Defender Craig Petersen told Winnebago County Circuit Court Judge John Ghent that he was requesting a new trial because the guilty verdict was contrary to the evidence presented in court, and the state did not prove Nelson's guilt. He listed 26 reasons, most of them prosecution errors, why a new trial should be granted.

Nelson was found guilty by a jury last month of killing the children in the family's Rockford home last Jan. 7. Nelson contended during the trial that he was insane when he killed the children. GHENT SAID HE would rule Friday on the motion. If it is denied, the judge Is expected to set a sentencing date.

In another development in the case, the two state agencies that police the conduct of judges and lawyers in Wisconsin have scheduled a meeting this month to discuss the way Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Christ T. Seraphim handled Nelson's extradition hearing. Nelson was arrested in Milwaukee, M. Milliard Pitiele Services for M. Hilliard Pitzele, 66, of 4250 N.

Marine a salesman and former owner of several gift shops, will at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel at 5206 N. Broadway. Mr. Pitzele died Wednesday in Billings Hospital.

He had been employed for 13 years as a salesman with the Anglo-American Warehouse, 39th Street and Packers Ar enue. Before that he owned and operated several gift shops here. During the 1940s, Mr. Pitzele was employed in the county clerk's office under Richard J. Daley.

Surviving are Mr. Pitzele's wife, Eleanor; a son, Lewis; and a brother. Mrs. Jens Nyholm Services were held in California for Mrs. Amy Wood Nyholm, 71, who was the manuscript librarian at the Newberry Library, 60 W.

Walton from 1949 to 1969. Mrs. Nyholm died May 16 in C.N. Griffis, 89, who worked on construction of the Panama Canal and was later one of the most prominent American journalists in South America; also adviser to Peruvian presidents; after a long illness; in Lima, Peru.
