JACOB PREUS, EX-MINNESOTA GOVERNOR, DIES Minneapolis, May 25 Special Jacob Aal Ottesen Preus, 77, former governor of Minnesota and vice president of the Chicago insurance brokerage firm of W. A. Alexander died yesterday in his home here.

Preus, son of a Lutheran clergyman and grandson of a Norwegian immigrant, served two terms as Republican governor of Minnesota from 1921 to 1925. He also served as state auditor and state insurance commissioner and ran unsuccessfully for the United States Senate. He divided his residence between Chicago and Minneapolis. He was a founder of the Lutheran Brotherhood insurance firm, had served as a receiver of the Old Colony Life Insurance company, and was board chairman of the American Merchants Mutual Insurance company. Survivors include his widow, Idella, and two sons, Jacob and Robert D.

4 KILLED AND 31 INJURED IN CRASH OF BUS Emigrant Gap, May 25 Four persons were killed and 31 were injured today, when a cross-country Greyhound bus plunged off U. S. 40 after colliding with a truck near this Sierra -nmunity. The more seriously injured were given blood plasma at the scene. Greyhound officials said records showed 37 persons were aboard the Chicago to San Francisco bus.

The highway patrol said a state division of highways survey truck, also westbound, with only a driver in it turned left in front of the bus on a two-lane highway. The bus struck the truck and plunged off a bank into some trees. The injured were taken to hospitals at Auburn, 50 miles west. Motel Blast Burns Fatal to Great Lakes Sailor John Biever, 24, of Bancroft, S. a sailor stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training center, died yesterday in the naval hospital there of injuries suffered on May 16 in an explosion and fire in a Kenosha motel.

Gen. Barnie B. McEntire 43, chief of staff of the South Carolina air national guard, was killed today when the F-104 jet fighter plane he was piloting crashed on a small island in the Susquehanna river. He had flown here earlier in the day to attend a conference and was killed on a take-off to return to Congaree air national guard base at Eastover, S. C.

The crash of his plane on the uninhabited island was within sight of crowds on Har-risburg's South bridge. Gen. McEntire had flown here with Col. Robert H. Mor-rell, commanding officer of the 169th fighter group of the South Carolina air national guard.
