Please omit flowers; der to I PRIZE WINNING AUTHOR, DIES New York, May 23 Wi Dr. Jack Weinstock, 62, medical director of the United States Life Insurance company and co-author of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," died today in his Manhattan home after a long illness. A native New Yorker, Weinstock collaborated with a patient Willie Gilbert, to write "How to Succeed," which, in 1961, won the Pulitzer prize, the Drama Critics award, and seven Tony award prizes. Weinstock was a graduate of Columbia college and New York university medical college.

He specialized in urology and taught at Flower Fifth Avenue hospital in New York. Weinstock and Gilbert also wrote "Hot Spot" and "Catch Me if You Can." 335 Midway Valparaiso, was killed last Sunday near Chu Lai, Viet Nam. He had been in Viet Nam for eight months with 26th engineering battalion. He was a 1963 graduate from Gary Emerson High school. Army Sgt Roger W. Pedue, 26, son of Mr.

and Mrs. John F. Pedue, route 6, La Porte, was killed May 16 in Viet Nam. A career army man who re- enlisted for his second hitch last June. Sgt Pedue joined the army after attending West-ville High school in La Porte.

Bernard Hamlet son of Bernard Hamlet 1541 Bigger st, Gary. FEAR 500 DEAD IN RACE RIOTS IN MALAYSIA KUALA LUMPUR. Malaysia, May 23 Ui More than 500 persons are believed to have been killed in Malaysia's week-long racial rioting, informed sources said today, and 90 per cent of them were Chinese. The emergency government said 166 persons were killed and did not make a racial breakdown. But at a special bureau set up today 400 per sons were reported missing since tne outDreaK ot violence May 13.

The Red Cross listed another 39 persons missing. Other sources disclosed that property damage was in the millions of dollars, and most of it was to Chinese houses or businesses. It was believed that the government feared it would create panic among the jittery population if it revealed the actual death count Racial breakdowns of the dead have never been issued, and the government during most of the violence blamed the Chinese community. CHARGE DRIVER WITH BEATING TWO POLICEMEN A 32-year-old Chicago tow-truck driver is scheduled to appear in Holiday court today on charges of speeding, aggravated battery, and resisting arrest Arthur L. Wilson, 4802 St Lawrence was arrested yesterday morning after he led several police cars on a mile-and-a-half chase, and attacked two policemen with a nightstick.

Wilson was stopped for speeding between 52d and 55th streets on Ellsworth drive. Police said he became beligerent, gunned his engine, and sped away. McHugh first made his mark as song writer in the heyday Jimmy McHugh of En Pan alley. The bald, soft-spoken McHugh composed the music for more than 50 motion pictures. Among his hits were, "I Can't Give You Anything but Love, Baby," "I'm in the Mood for Love," and "Don't Blame Me." Published 500 Songs In all, he published 500 songs, most of them romantic ballads.

McHugh made the big time in 1928 with Lew Leslie's "Blackbirds" show on Broadway. Shortly thereafter he broke in Duke Ellington at the famed Cotton club. He moved to Hollywood in 1930 to begin writing songs for films, many in partnership with Dorothy Fields as lyricist. McHenry county police said Aissen was coming around a curve when he met Bowers' car head-on. A friend, Leonard Losoya. 3410 38th pL, told police he and Thomas' were playing with friends when one of Thomas' shoes fell into the canal Leonard held the other boy as he leaned over the bank to retrieve the shoe, but Thomas lost his balance and plunged into the canaL Thomas could not swim nor could his playmates, were told. A police-fire boat and two helicopters searched for the boy until darkness. Police said there is a strong undertow where the boy fell in. The child was the only child of Thomas and Rosemary Jarosz.
