Stanley A. Cain, assistant secretary of interior, told a House interior subcommittee that President Johnson in 1963 and again this year named the proposed lakeshore as one of the park and recreation areas that should be established. Covers Acres The proposed lakeshore on Lake Michigan would include about 46,100 acres in Benzie and Leelanau counties.

Of this, about 37,600 acres are in INDIANA G. q. P. STATE PARLEY OPENS TODAY 19 Candidates Seek 11 Nominations Indianapolis, June 20 OD- One of the most uncertain contests in recent history for Indiana secretary of state added spirit to the eve of the Republican state convention. Merrymaking prevailed at the headquarters of the three aspirants today.

It was needed because it is hard to arouse feverish interest in tomorrow's convention in which no senatorial or gubernatorial seats were at stake. There were 19 candidates for 11 nominations. Five contests shaped up long before today's deadline for filing or withdrawing, and six candidates were assured of automatic nomination for lack of opposition. 3 Seek Nomination The battlers for secretary of state are Charles W.
