III hiiniiiii I to SATURDAY, AUGUST 1, 1964 Ranger 7's Successful Flight Gives Man His Closest Look at Moon tli Icife 'tf Ci? This is how the moon looked to one of Ranger 7's cameras at altitude of 470 miles. The large crater in the -upper right corner is Guericke. Numerous smaller craters are shown on its floor as well as two big conical craters, larger of which is approximately four miles in diameter. The entire picture shows an area measuring 78 miles on a side. The smallest craters visible are approximately 800 feet across.

Large open crater is known as Lubi- Ranger 7 crashed as it was taking this picture, causing static which produced the grainy area in the upper situky. Scientists at Jet Propulsion laboratory in Pasadena said the picture closely duplicates the resolution right Area at upper left is about 100 by 60 feet; the smallest crater visible is about 3 feet across.
