Edward Hannon, 839 Van- Did you know that George Washington lives. in Gary? In fact, he is listed in the Gary telephone directory as having three addresses 1623 Jackson st, 1917 Washington st, and 1149 Fillmore st. What's more confusing is that Mr. Washington's successor, John Adams, also resides in the Calumet area, but he has six addresses. No, this is not a historical "whodunnit" story, but any historian coming to the Calumet region would have no trouble finding persons with famous names.

In checking the area telephone book, one discovers many persons living in the region who possess the same name as a historical counterpart. For instance, besides the three George Washingtons and six John Adams, living in the area, there is also a John Q. Adams, 1744 Jefferson a Thomas Jefferson, 1576 Fillmore a James Madison, 4339 Massachusetts, and a James Monroe, 469 W. 20th pL, listed in the phone directory as residing in the area. Others in Area More noted historical name-a likes living in the area include.
