Born in Vienna on March 12, 1916, Mr. Broda studied law after finishing secondary school. Fascist sentiment grew in the 1930s, and he was briefly imprisoned in 1934 because of his socialist leanings. After the Nazi takeover in 1938, Mr. Broda was drafted into service with the German army until the end of World War II in 1 945.

He again was imprisoned briefly in 1943 because of his political beliefs. Following the war, Mr. Broda practiced law until 1957, when he was elected to Parliament VIENNA AP Former Justice Minister Christian Broda, who fought long and successfully for abolishing the death penalty, died Sunday after an apparent heart attack, according to relatives. He was 70. Mr.

Broda, a member of the Socialist Party, was justice minister between- 1960 and 1966, and between 1970 and 1983. He was responsible for abolition of the death sentence in Austria and for other far-reaching judicial and penal changes. Mr. Broda and Argentine President Raul Alfonsin shared the 21-Nation Council of Europe's European Human Rights Award this SHANNON the French Na Charles) Archer, Helen (John) Campbell and the late Frieda, Gertrude (the late Mel) Schwab and George (Joyce); dear brother-in-law ot Ernest (Jane) and Frances Hecht; loving uncle ot many nieces and nephews. Stephen Jacula Mass for Dr. Stephen Jacula, a doctor for 32 years at West Suburban Hospital and in private practice, will be said at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Nicholas Ukranian Catholic Church, 2238 W. Rice St.

Dr. Jacula, of Burr Ridge, died Friday in Hinsdale Hospital. He had been a staff member of West Suburban Hospital for 32 years and had a practice in the Argo-Summit area for 32 years. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; a son, Stephen; a daughter, Ann Sotolongo; two brothers; and a sister. Louis E.

Corrington, Jr. Louis E. Corrington, 70, a former bank president, died Sunday in a Barrington nursing home. Mr. Corrington was the former president of Guarantee Bank and Trust Mercantile Bank of Chicago and Bank of Miami Beach.

He served as a captain in LEE SPYCHALA Daseoaii. ne aiso engaged in inor-oughbred racing in Illinois and Kentucky, where he has a thoroughbred farm. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Edith; and a daughter, Margo Louise. Services for Mr. Corrington will be held at 3 p.m.

Morris Naidel Morris Naidel, 82, a former city circulation manager for the Chicago American and Chicago Today, died Sunday in Christ Hospital, Oak Lawn. Mr. Naidel, of Chicago, worked for more than 50 years as city circulation manager at the Chicago American and Chicago Today, retiring in 1970. He is survived by a brother, Sam.
