June 16, 1981, wife of the late John 1962; mother of Leona (, it Hal Block One of the stars of SERVICES FOR Hal Block, one of the original panelists in the television show What's My Line, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel at 5206 N.

Broadway. Mr. Block died Tuesday in Edgewater Hospital. He was 67. Mr.

Block was a noted comedy writer who worked for such stars as Milton. Berle, Bob Hope, and Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. He also was host of a television show on WGN-TV. A graduate of the University of Chicago, Mr. Block was captain of the track team and editor of the university humor magazine.

Surviving are two sisters. "What's My Line?" I brokerage 79, dies V. Ohio art director, stock partner J.G. Butler III, more than 5,000. Butler joined Butler Wick with his father in 1925 and bought a seat on the New York Stock Exchange.

Butler Wick was the only Youngstown brokerage house to survive the 1929 financial crash on Wall Street. He is survived by his wife, a son, 3 daughters, and 11 grandchildren. YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) Joseph' G. Butler III, 79, director of the Butler Institute of American Art and a partner in Butler Wick Co. stock brokerage, died Wednesday in a hospital here.

Butler, an artist, directed the institute for 47 years. It was established as a gift to the city by Joseph G. Butler Butler's grandfather. Under Butler's direction, the institute grew from 100 works to Boston Malcolm Miller, 'Cloven Kingdom' composer, dies i BOSTON (APMVlusician Malcolm M. Miller, best known for his composition "Cloven Kingdom," is dead at 64.

Miller, who had been associate dean of Boston University's School for the Arts since 1966, died Sunday. His most famous work, "Cloven Kingdom," created for the Paul Taylor Dance Co. in 1976, has been performed in the Soviet Union, England, France, Italy, and Canada. MILLER CAME to Boston University as a graduate student in 1952 and became a member of the faculty four years later. He continued teaching music and composing after being appointed associate dean.

Miller also was known for his occasional appearances as guest conductor of the Boston Pops orchestra. He is survived by his wife, Marie, and a son, Ronald, of Dedham, Mass- Burial was scheduled for Thursday. J. Erwin Porter, pastel painter and ex-ad man, dies at age 78 His 68 paintings of the Erie Canal were the subject of a one-man show at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington in the 1960s. He later did a series of paintings on Revolutionary War sites in his native state of New York.

He moved to Arizona in 1971 and completed large pastels on themes ranging from old, abandoned mines to Papago Indian history. TUCSON, Ariz. (APV-Services were held Wednesday for J. Erwin Porter, 78, known for his series of pastel paintings depicting scenes of the Erie Canal and the Revolutionary War. Porter, who died here last Thursday, had worked during much of his life for two Rochester, N.Y., advertising firms before retiring in 1960 and devoting the rest of his life to painting.

74-OJ6. TEL AVIV (APWtzhak Cukierman, 66, a leader of the Warsaw ghetto revolt against the Nazis in 1943, died Wednesday of a heart attack. Cukierman, who adopted the code name "Antek" during the uprising, escaped the ghetto after its destruction and led Jewish fighters who joined the Polish partisans. He was married to the deputy commander of the Warsaw uprising, Zivia Lubet-kin, who died in 1978. They emigrated to Palestine in 1946.

Cukierman was a founder of Kibbutz Lochamei HaGeta'ot, a collective farm in northern Israel established by survivors of Nazi concentration camps. Benjamin Meed of New York, here for a reunion of survivors of the Nazi death camps, said it was "symbolic that Antek. died during the conference. It underlines our rush to pass on the legacy of the Holocaust before other survivors die." Mrs. Irene Long Mass for Mrs.

Mrs. Doris Strobridge Graveside services for Mrs. Doris Russell Strobridge, 91, a former civic and social leader, will be at 11 a.m. June 27, in Harbor Springs, where she had spent summers since 1894, later having a home at Harbor Point and in Wequetons-ing, Mich. Mrs.

Strobridge, an early president A Chicago Junior League, died Monday la tier home in Vero Beach, Fla. Surviving is a daughter, Diane Curtis, an official with the Continental Illinois Bank here. Arthur G. Smith Arthur G. Smith, 65, district superintendent of the eastern division of Northern Illinois Gas died Thursday in Memorial Hospital of Du Page County.

Mr. Smith, of Lombard, was the senior employe of Northern Illinois Gas, having been with the company for 46 years. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel at 135 S. Main Lombard.

Survivors include his wife, Irmgard; two sons, Daniel and Lowell; one daughter, Nancy; his mother, Mrs. Anne Smith; and two brothers. Mrs. Alyss H. DeMarals Mass for Mrs.

Alyss H. DeMarals, 83, a former teacher of the deaf and hard-of-hearing, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Episcopal Church of St. Raphael the Archangel, 9701 S. 49th Oak Lawn.

Mrs. DeMarais, of the Southwest Side, died Tuesday In the Monticello Convalescent Center, Oak Lawn. From 1936 until her retirement In 1971, she taught in Chicago schools, except for the years from 1944 until 1946, when she served as a sergeant in the Women's Army Corps. During that time, she taught lip reading to deaf or hard-of-hearlng servicemen. In the early 1960s, she also had a television show called "Arts and Crafts," on WTTW-TV, Channel 11.

Survivors Include a son, Marshall; two daughters, Gwendolyn Williams and Toni Legner; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; I and sister. C. Paul Saranecki Mass for C. Paul Saranecki, 62, a potato chip manufacturer and former bowling alley operator, will be at 10 a.m. 1 Saturday in St.

John Brebeuf Catholic Church, 8307 Harlem Niles. Mr. Saranecki died Wednesday in his home in Niles. He was a Navy lieutenant junior grade during World War II, serving aboard the U.S.S. Healy.

He was former owner of the old Cragin Bowling Lanes on West Armitage Avenue, and past vice president of the Bowling Proprietors' Association: Mr. Saranecki was owner of the Yo-Ho Food Products makers of potato chips, at 4716 W. Armitage co-owner of Saranecki Brothers Continental Catering, 4722 W. Armitage, and owner of Barefoot Valley Farms, Ridott, 111. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son, Scott; a brother; a sister; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Dorothy M. Goldstein Mrs. Dorothy Mack Goldstein, 67, a retired school social worker, died Wednesday in her Skokie home. She had been a certified school social worker since 1963 and a social worker in the Winnetka public school system for .11 years before she retired in 1980.

In 1978, she was honored for her work by the Illinois Council for Exceptional Children. She also was the author of numerous short stories and held a real estate sales license. Survivors include two daughters, Rosanne Kaplan and Dr. Ruth Bess Goldstein; a son, Dr. Michael; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel at 5206 N. Broadway. Mrs. Joseph J.

Rink Mass for Mrs. Mary Rink, 69, who died Tuesday in Evanston Hospital, Evanston, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1775 Grove Glenview. Mrs. Rink, of 1539 Winnetka Glenview, was the wife of Joseph co-founder and senior vice president of United Educators, Lake Bluff, publishers and distributors of children's educational books.

Also surviving are a son, Joseph J. three daughters, Mrs. Mary Graham, Mrs. Kathy Miller, and Sarah Ami; and 10 grandchildren. Mrs.

Charlotte It. Hanley I Mass for Mrs; Charlotte R. Hanley, 70, a longtime resident of Oak Park, will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in Ascension Catholic Church, Oak Park. She died Tuesday in West Suburban Hospital, In the suburb.
