Commissioner O'Connor issued a general order to the police department yesterday for the immediate seizure of illegal fireworks found in the possession of children or anyone else in Chicago.

The commissioner's order, to be read at roll calls and posted at district stations, called attention to the city ordinance which outlaws both the possession and sale of illegal fireworks. In instances Of sale, O'Connor ordered immediate arrests and warned of vigorous prosecution. Under the city ordinance, fines from $25 to $200 are provided for each violation of the ban against sale or possession of illegal fireworks. With children handling dangerous fireworks, the commissioner advised his men to confiscate the explosive materials, take the children to their parents, and warn the parents that if the child is discovered to be playing with fireworks again the parents will face prosecution. ers Association of Chicago.

GOOCH, PUBLISHER tA DALLAS, DIES Dallas, June 13 (IP) Tom C. Gooch, 72, publisher of the acclaim with Adelina Patti, Enrico Caruso, and Nellie Melba. She retired in 1912, saying that she did not care to continue singing after her voice had passed its prime.

Shanghai born, Mme. Eames achieved as much fame thru her tempestuous marital life as thru her singing. Her first marriage, In 1891, to Julian Story, an artist, ended in 1907 when she obtained a divorce in New York, whqre the only ground for such action at the time was adultery. The evidence in the case was kept secret. A curious provision of the decree forbade Story to remarry until Mme.

Eames was dead an order he quickly disobeyed. She later married Emilio di Gorgoza, a baritone whose first wife once sued Mme.
