Gen. Willis Dale Crittenberger, pioneer tank ex- pert and a top lege. Gen. Crittenberger helped draw up the first table of organization of an American armored division, at Fort Knox, in 1934, and participated in the first large scale armored maneuvers. Following the war Gen.

Crittenberger commanded the Caribbean defense command, later taking unified command of all services In the area. In 1948 -he became the American army member of the United Nations military staff committee, succeeding to its chairmanship in 1949. Gen. Crittenberger is married to the former Josephine Woodhull, of San Antonio, Tex. Two sons, Willis D.

and Dale are regular army officers. A third son, Corp.
