Mr. Caldwell was married to Irene Buysse in 1921. They were divorced several years ago. Mr. Caldwell had been a resident partner of the Chicago law firm in charge of the Washington office since 1930.

He was chief counsel of the Washington Times-Herald at the time of his death, and was rationally known as an expert on communications law. He was general counsel of the federal ra'dio commission in 1928-29, Foreign Legion Mr. Caldwell was born in Oak Park Sept. 25, 1891, and was graduated from Amherst college in 1913 and Northwestern university Surviving are his widow, Edith street, to St. Cclumbanui' church.
