Thursday in North Minster Presbyterian Church, 2515 Central Park Evanston. Mrs. Newman, who died Friday in Evanston Hospital, was a production coordinator for Mobil Travel Guide in Deerfield for the last two years. She had also been advertising manager for Rand-McNally Co.

Lewis Miller Memorial services for Lewis Miller, 95, a retired vice president First National Bank Chicago, will be held Tuesday in Southbury, Conn. Mr. Miller, who from the bank in 1955, died Friday at his Southbury home. He was born in 1894 in Canton, Ohio, graduated from St. Paul's Prep.

School, Concord, N.H., in 1912 and from Yale University in 1916. A veteran of World War he served in Belgium as an Army captain in the 108th Field Artillery. He moved to Chicago in 1926 and was in charge of the bank's municipal bond department. Mr. Miller served two terms as vice president of the Investor Bankers Association and as chairman of the association's Municipal Securities Committee.

also served as president of the Municipal Bond Club of Chicago. He left Chicago in 1960 and lived in Michigan for 20 years before moving to Connecticut. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Barbara Kolade and Mary Louise Williamson; five grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. Economist developed type of pension NEW YORK (AP)-William C.

Greenough, developer of the variable annuity, pension and onetime head of the biggest pension fund in the U.S., has died of complications from a heart attack. He was 75. Mr. Greenough died Wednesday in New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. The Indiana-born and -educated economist was president and then chairman of the Teachers Insurance and Annuity AssociationCollege Retirement Equities Fund from 1957 until he retired in 1979.

The $82 billion fund covers more than a million educators and administrators in 4,300 institutions. Mr. Greenough put forward the idea of a stock fund in the early 1950s when he was vice president of the fund. The approach was based on his perception that over the long run a diverse portfolio of common stocks would outperform traditional fixed-dollar pensions. Mr.

Greenough was a director of the New York Stock Exchange for 10 years beginning in 1972 and in 1979 served on President Carter's Commission on Pension Policy. Mr. Greenough is survived by his wife, Doris; two sons, David, Downington, and Walter, of Chicago, and a daughter, Martha Alice. 312-728-1700 Remember loved ones with an In Memoriam. To place your ad, call 222-2222 Ex-radio, TV voice, H.S. Cooke By Marja Mills Henry S. Cooke, 72, hosted a popular Chicago radio program 1 in the 1960s, then became an announcer for WMAQ-TV. A memorial service for Mr.

Cooke will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Village Presbyterian Church, 1300 Shermer Northbrook. He died Friday in Evanston Hospital. From 1954 to 1971, Mr. Cooke was a popular announcer with WMAQ radio, the NBC affiliate in Chicago.

His trademark deep voice and understated humor, continued to be heard when he joined WMAQ's television operation in 1972 as a staff announcer. Mr. Cooke narrated several WMAQ specials. He retired in 1984. Ed Grennan, a WMAQ-TV staff announcer who worked with Mr.

Cooke for many years, remembered his colleague's characteristic grace when viewers' television picture went blank due to a technical problem. "When we lose a picture or sound on TV, usually we just say 'We've lost our picture; we're Grennan recalled Saturday evening. Henry S. Cooke in 1955. "But went on and said, 'Ladies and gentlemen, you've lost your picture because we've lost ours.

You should know that there are 14 engineers in white coats with pencils in their pockets running up and down the halls trying to correct the "He was known for that quiet, dignified humor," Grennan said. He also was known for his skill as a bomber pilot in the South Pacific during World War II, Grennan said. A captain in the U.S. Air Corps, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal, relatives said. Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, John; a daughter, Margaret Mahoney; and two grandchildren.

W.G. Saltonstall, ex principal of Phillips Exeter Academy New York Times News Service LAKEVILLE, -William Gurdon Saltonstall, a former principal of Phillips Exeter Academy and a retired director of the Peace Corps in Nigeria, has died at age 84. He died Monday in a Lakeville nursing home. Mr. Saltonstall spent most of his career at Exeter, where he taught history before becoming the school's principal from 1932 to 1963.

He left in 1963 to take the Peace Corps post. He left the Peace Corps in 1965. Born in Milton, Mr. Saltonstall was himself educated at Exeter, one of the nation's oldest and best-known private preparatory schools. The Saltonstall family has been connected with the school since Leverett Saltonstall, class of 1796, attended as a classmate of Daniel Webster.

Mr. Saltonstall graduated from Harvard College, where he was president of the student body and first marshal of the graduating class, the highest elected undergraduate office. He earned master's and law degrees from Harvard University. An avid sailor, he was the author of "Ports of a maritime history of Portsmouth, N.H., that was published in 1941 by Harvard University Press. His which he raced on the Codinat brought Sir Richard Cape named Arbella, after Saltonstall, a lord mayor of London, to America in 1630.

Phillips Exeter announced before his death that a boathouse now under construction would be named in his honor. Mr. Saltonstall was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He had honorary doctorates from many colleges, including Williams, Tufts, Bowdoin, Dartmouth, Colby, Princeton and the University of New Hampshire. He was a former trustee of Colby College and Southeastern Massachusetts University, and a former member of the board of overseers of Harvard.

He was a former member of the board of visitors at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. American Baptist Churches exec New York Times News KING OF PRUSSIA, Rev. Elizabeth Miller, an executive of the American Baptist Churches for more than 36 years, has died her home in King of Prussia after a long illness. She was 67. Rev.

Miller, who died Dec. 16, was manager of the national ministries' individual and corporate responsibility unit of the churches. She supervised neighborhood action programs, social and ethical responsibility work, ministry of the laity and ministries to military and institutional chaplains.
