McGah, 68, a former magistrate for the Village of Berkeley and Cook County Circuit Court, was a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1966 to 1974. A resident of Berkeley for 41 years, he died Monday in Loyo-laUniversity Medical Center in Maywood. He was in public office as an elected or an appointed official for almost 40 years.

The first of these was from 1952 to 1953 as village clerk for Berkeley. For the next eight years, he was a police magistrate there. He then became a justice of the peace for Proviso Township. He also served two years as a Circuit Court magistrate. In 1 966, Mr.

McGah was elected to the Illinois legislature from the 5th District. Redistricting put him in the 6th District during his last term in the state assembly. He was on the Judiciary Com-mittceand others. He was his party's spokesman on public utilities. After leaving the legislature, he was the legal adviser to House Speaker William Redmond for six" years.

Mr. McGah, a graduate of-Fcnwick High School and Holy ii Cross College, served with thc: 75th Division inin Europe during -World War II. He received his law! degree from Loyola University. He was a member of the firm of McGah and founded by his late father, William Sr. He was attorney for the parl district of Forest Park and man of the Hillside-Berkeley Water Commission.

"His work was very important -to him and he was dedicated it," said his wife, Barbara "Pat." "He was easygoing and both very" intelligent and well-read." Over' the years, he was active in the Democratic Party and really cri- 1 joyed it."
