Kruse, 85, of Hunt- leyand formerly of Rolling Meadows, a retired supervisor at Beverly Gravel in Elgin, died of cancer Thursday, June 27, in his home.

Born in Chicago, Mr. Kruse graduated from Austin High School, then worked as a welder for a coal mining company in Pennsylvania. In 1942he was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Forces and worked as an airplane mechanic for four years, stationed in Pennsylvania. After his military service, Mr.

Kruse and his family bought the Rainbow Inn, a tavern in Roselle. By day, Mr. Kruse worked at International Harvester, a farm equipment manufacturer in Chicagoand by night tended bar. The bar was sold in the 1950s. In 1964 he began working at Beverly Gravel, where he supervised the gravel crushing operations.

He retired in 1991. had a passion for building and said his son, Kevin, adding that his father built three homes. Mr. Kruse also built several boats, including a 30-foot cabin cruiser he sailed on the Chain Lakes. spent our weekends and vacations on the his son said.

Tuesdayin the funeral home. THOMAS A. REARDON, 61 Dr. Thomas Anthony Reardon, 61, an internist from Glenview who practiced in the Chicago area for more than three decades, died of cancer Tuesday, June 25, in Rush North Shore Medical Center in Skokie. Born in Blue Island, Dr.

Reardon grew up in the Back of the Yards and Beverly neighborhoods and graduated from Notre Dame University and the Loyola University School of Medicine. Dr. Reardon spent three years in the Navy as physician onboard the he received a commendation for performing an emergency appendectomy at sea, said his son Liam. Dr. Reardon joined a North Side medical practice and moved to the Sauganash neighborhood with his wife, Monica, an emergency-room nurse he met while working as a resident at Cook County Hospital.

For seven years, he was an assistant surgeon for the Chicago Police Department, giving physicals to police-academy students and caring for injured officers, his son said.Dr. Reardon was still practicing medicine the day before he was admitted to the hospital and phoned patients from his hospital bed to recommend new doctors, his son said. Dr. Reardon is also survived by another son, Thomas; two daughters, Colleen Daly and Erin Cohn; a brother, Kevin; and four grandchildren. Services have been held.

LEONA SCHULER, 104 Leona Schuler, 104, a West Side resident for nearly a century, died of heart failure Tuesday, June 25, in the Ford County Nursing Home near Paxton, Ill. Mrs. Schuler was born in a cabin in Neevish Isle, where her father worked in lumber and steel industries. In 1906 the steel mill closed and her family moved to the West Side of Chicago, where Mrs. Schuler resided until 1997.

She went to school until 6th grade, when she lied about her age to get a job at the 12th Street Department Store in Chicago to supplement the family income, family members said. Mrs. Schuler was a seamstress, sewing and doing alterations most her life. She especially liked making quilts and dolls. was born two years before the century started and died two years after it said her son, Larry Keating.

CAROL MAE THEORIN, 67 Carol Mae Theorin, 67, of Arlington Heights, who worked for 20 years in United credit department, died of cancer Wednesday, June 26, in Vitas Hospice at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Theorin raised her family in Rolling Meadows.

In 1972 she began work at United headquarters in Elk Grove Township, where she handled credit card applications. She retired in 1992. Her husband, Jack, said she enjoyed planning trips and outings. was an he said. was very good at getting her relatives to go out and do Other survivors include two daughters, Doreen Mulvey and Renee Balabuszko; a stepson, Steven; a stepdaughter, Cynthia; a sister, Dolores Mrofcza; eight grandchildren; and four stepgrand- children.
