Kellogg Tribune staff reporter An accomplished teacher and well-known local scholar, Morris Buske always took the time to treat people well. knew no class recalled his daughter, Dorothy Lynn Buske Lowe. did not care about outward appearance. He cared about what was inside them.

He cared about their hearts and their Mr. Buske, 92, died Friday, Jan. 14, in his Oak Park home of congestive heart failure. Born in 1912, Mr. Buske was raised on his dairy farm in where he cultivated a lifelong affinity for the outdoors.

Buske attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he studied for several years toward his doctorate degree and also taught part time. While there, he met his first wife, Dorothy Isabelle Hohler. He left the university in 1940, just a dissertation shy of a PhD and moved with his family to Oak Park, where he took a job teaching history at the Oak Park-River Forest High School. As a teacher, Mr. Buske co-authored Record of a world history textbook used widely throughout the United States.

He also edited and wrote numerous other articles and learning guides. He retired from teaching in 1974with a reputation as a popular teacher with an occasionally unorthodox style. was a man who enjoyed springing little humorous surprises on his recalled Virginia Cassin, a former student and chairwoman of the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park, which Mr. Buske founded. was an interesting man with a great passion for his subject and a great sense of After his retirement Mr.

Buske stayed active in his community and spent much time nurturing his lifelong interest in Hemingway, an Oak Park native. He servedas a past president of the Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest. His book on Oak Park yearsis to be published by The Edwin Mellen Press later this year. He remarried in 1992. In addition to his daughter, Mr. Buske is survived by his second wife, Dorothy Alma Buske; another daughter, Carol Frances Buske; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A first-generation American of Polish descent, Mrs. Niemczyk was born August 3, 1916 in Chicago, where she lived and worked for more than 75 years. Clara gentle spirit found early expressionin playing the violin, and her deep love of music continued throughout her life.

In lateryears she enjoyed knitting, fishing, traveling and dancing. She also loved playing cards, especially a good game of Pinochle. As a young wife and mother, she worked side by side with her husband, Matthew; together they owned and managed several neighborhood grocerystores in their south Chicago neighborhood. In 1960, Clara went to work as an internal auditor for the University of Chicago, a position she held for 25 years until her retirement in 1985. In 1993, Clara moved to Fox Knoll in Aurora, where she made her home until herdeath.

Always possessed of an abiding love of famil and a heartfelt need to be of service, Clara was active as a volunteer at Family Counseling Service in Aurora where her granddaughter, Elizabeth Davy, is Clinical Director. Elizabeth fondl recalls being lovingly teased by colleagues who said it must have been nice to have someone call her sweetheart at work. Every person whose life path crossed Clara thought she was the sweetest person they had evermet. Her generosity of heart and gentleness of spirit will be treasured memories for all whom Clara touched with her presence. Clara was the beloved mother of Aurie Davy and Matthew (Sally) Jablonski; loving grandmother of Elizabeth Davy, Laura (Don) Krug, Lisa (Jeff) Day, Aimee (Mike) Blake and Michael Jablonski; loving great-grandmother of Paige, Sara, Tessa, Evan, Jackson and Taylor; and dear friend her devoted caregiver Maria Gwizdak.
