He was born April 4, 1929, the son of Margaret M. and F. George Reynolds of Lake Forest. Mr. Reynolds began his education at Lake Forest's Gorton Elementary School and Lake Forest Academy.

After graduating from Brown University in 1952, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Mac worked for over 25 years in industrial real estate in Chicago. An avid fan of traditional jazz, Mac played the banjo for decades with several Chicago-area jazz groups. He also recorded with several trad bands- the Chicago Hot Six, the Riv-erboat Rascals of Milwaukee, the Bald Eagles Jazz Band of which he was a founding member, and also with the Red Rose Ragtime Band, in which his wife, Joan, was the pianist.

For over twenty years he was banjoist with the popular Samuel Dent Memorial Jazz Band of Lake Forest. Mac was an expert in the restoration of pre-war MG automobiles, and received many awards at antique car shows. He was a long time active member of the Vintage MG Car Club of Chicago and of the Vintage Sports Car Club of Chicago. Always interested in amateur radio, Mac earned his radio operator's license as a young teenager and pursued this interest throughout his life. He was part of several HAM radio operator teams, participating in several excursions to remote or uninhabited islands such as Malpelo Island and San Andreas in South America to set up amateur radio contacts.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joan S. Reynolds; his children: Bruce H. (Didi) Reynolds, Margaret M. Reynolds, Nancy (Chuck) Hoppe, and Blair Sheldon; Dexter (Celeste Teters) Gauntlett; grandchildren John, Tom, Will and Olivia Reynolds, CJ (Cody Blades) and Katy Hoppe, and Hunter, Cole, and Wesley Sheldon; Gus, and Dexter (Amber) Gauntlett; and greatgrandchildren Cyrus and Greta Gauntlett. He is the brother of Frank Reynolds and the late Anne Kennedy and Felicite Reynolds.

He is survived by members of his monastic community, his sister-in-law. Eve Pusateri, 9 nephews and nieces: Anthony (Judy) Letizia, Daniel (Nan) Letizia, David (Marijo) Letizia, Joyce Letizia, Joanne (Kevin) Katsis, Larry (Anita) Pusateri, Paul Pusateri, Mary Ann Pusateri, Eva Campbell and 27 grand nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Josephine (Romano) Pusateri and by his siblings, Anthony Rose (Alfonse) Letizia and Lawrence.

Father Christian was born on July 1, 1928, and was baptized Paul at Mount Carmel Parish, Melrose Park, Illinois. Upon graduation from Proviso East High School in 1945 he studied with the Maryknoll Mission Society from 1946 1953. He later completed his theological studies at St. Procopius Seminary, Lisle, Illinois, from 1953-1955. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Joliet on May 30, 1955.

In 1977 Father Christian discerned that God was calling him to the monastic life at Marmion Abbey. He took the name of Christian. He professed final solemn vows on August 6, 1981. He had a great sense of humor, loved a vibrant debate, was very committed to his family, and reserved a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews. Father Christian had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and was called to eternal life on January 1, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.

Father Christian's body will be received by his monastic community and family on Monday, January 5, at 4:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Abbey Church at 850 Butterfield Road, Aurora. The Office of the Dead will be prayed at 6:30 P.M.

(JACK) Jack McArdle, Sr. of Riverwoods, Illinois passed away on December 28, 2014 at the age of 86. Born in Evan-ston, Illinois he grew up in Highland Park, Arlington Heights, and Harvard, Illinois. He graduated from Northwestern University's Business School with a Degree in Business Management -Marketing, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He married his wife of 57 years, Gloria Tiritilli, after serving on Destroyers in the Korean War.

They lived first in Highland Park, later Northfield, and then settled in Riverwoods, Illinois. Mr. McAr-dle's business career included management positions at Curtiss Candy Co. (Baby Ruth and Butterfinger candy bars), and Foote Cone 8i Belding Advertising Agency (assignments on Kraft Foods, S. C.

Johnson, First National Bank of Chicago, and Hiram Walker). He retired after a 17 year career as Vice President of Corporate Communications from the George S. May International Company, a management consulting firm. Among his civic service contributions were executive roles on the Board of Governors of the Illinois Athletic Club, Chairman of the Better Business Bureau for Chicago and Northern Illinois, plus two terms as Chairman of the Plan Commission in Riverwoods. Horses were Jack's life-long passion; he owned horses for over 65 years and kept them in their Riverwoods back yard stable for over 40 years.

Jack and Gloria enjoyed participating as members in many activities of the Mill Creek Fox Hunt for over 20 years. Jack was most proud of and devoted to his family. They were each an integral part of the Village's civic and Jewish life from that day forward. Shirley was President of the PTA for every school that her three sons attended. She was a Den Mother when they were Cub Scouts, and she walked house to house in Skokie collecting for the Red Feather and the Community Chest. For years, well past her 80th birthday, she volunteered at East Prarie school.

She was an avid Mah Jongg player, playing with the same group of women for 40 years. Although plagued with a progressive dementia in her last years, she never lost her sense of humor or joy for life, or her undying devotion to all Chicago sports teams, especially her beloved Cubs. Scher, Philanthropist, Business Leader and Entrepreneur, dies at 90. Mr. Scher, born in Chicago Oct. 19, 1924, attended the University of Illinois before being drafted into service as a cryptographer in the South Pacific during WWII. He returned and finished his college education at The University of Illinois on the Gl bill while filling in with some classes at Northwestern University where he met his wife, Eleanor (1926-1991), and mother of his four children.

Ele and Joe relocated to Santa Barbara in 1980. When Ele passed away unexpectedly, he married his dear friend for over 40 years, Lila, who spent the last 22 years with him enjoying a wonderful life of travel, love and fun. After a few tries striking out on his own, and in need of a job he began work as a paint salesman with the Enterprise Paint Company. He singlehanded-ly created paint departments in large chain department stores that had never conceived of selling paint. He convinced Macy's, JC Penny, Lazarus Dept.

Stores (became Federated) among many other's that they could add a whole new revenue source by selling paint in their stores. For over thirty years he grew The Enterprise Companies from a small fledgling paint manufacturing company on the South Side of Chicago to a major industry competitor with multiple lines under multiple labels both private and proprietary. He served as President of the company for ten years until the company was sold to the International Silver Company. Mr. Scher then struck out on his own and bought a string of manufacturing companies in the Advertising Specialty Industry as well as a chain of discount eyeglass stores.

He also became a partner with his son Mark in the commercial real estate business, developing and acquiring over 3 million square feet across the Western United States. Mr. Scher was a Philanthropic force in the Chicago and Santa Barbara Communities, as well as other major charitable endeavors. In Chicago he served as President of the Chicago Chapter of the American Jewish Committee and as a Director of the Birchwood Club. In Santa Barbara, he served as President of the Santa Barbara City College Foundation, served on the Board of the Santa Barbara Jewish Federation for eighteen years, and during that time served as President setting new fundraising records for the organization.

He also took on the Presidency of the Board of Camerata the Santa Barbara Chamber Music Foundation, and served as a Director of Speaking of Stories while donating generously to The Music Academy of the West, the i Mel Foundation and many other worthy organizations. He was a founding member of The Scleroderma Research Foundation along with his late daughter in law, Sharon Monsky, who suffered from this progressive, debilitating disease. He served on the Board of Directors and was a major financial supporter of the Foundation for over fifteen years. Mr. Scher was a long time member of The Birchwood Club and Northmoor Country Club in Highland Park, IL as well as a long time member of La Cumbre Country Club in Santa Barbara, CA, and the Birnam Wood Country Club in Montecito, CA.

Mr. Scher leaves his wife Lila, his four children, Marilyn Habermas-Scher (Donald, Minneapolis, MN), Mark (Santa Barbara, CA), Julie (Evanston, IL) and James (Sandra, Los Angeles, CA), and step children Doug (Chicago, IL), and Lisa Goddard, (San Diego, CA) along with seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Don and June married in 1946 and enjoyed 61 wonderful years together. Shortly following Don's return from WWII service as a U.S.

Army radio operator in the Pacific Theater, he began his 33-year career in the Chicago Police Department. Don's service to the people of Chicago culminated with "the best job he ever had" a 16-year assignment as the commanding Lieutenant of the CPD police detail at O'Hare Airport lasting until 1980. In 1984, Don and June chose to leave their hometown of Chicago for Columbus, Indiana and relished their 25 years spent together there. With the exception of a few years devoted to caring for June, Don continued to serve his community, this time as a Meals-On-Wheels delivery driver until age 88. An avid reader and library patron, Don was also a beloved Book Buddies reading mentor to second graders at Southside Elementary until just this past spring.

He is survived by his two sons James (Elizabeth) Munger of Phoenix, Arizona and Robert (Mary) Munger of Chicago, grandchildren Lydia (Colin) Munger-Lit-tle, Kenneth Munger and Matthew (Jennette) Munger, nieces Norma (Buck) Hilliard, Carol (Jim) Bryan, Nancy Brown, nephew Donald (Katherine) Johnson, and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Steven Van Tassel, her daughter Sophie Van Tassel and her son Joseph Van Tassel, as well as her siblings Paul Rapisarda (Wendy), John Rapisarda (Julie), Luisa Rapisarda (Terry), along with 14 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Alice L.

Rapisarda in 2010 and John G. Rapisarda in 2001. She was highly regarded in her field and spent her career working with children and families in the foster care system and with individuals who were in need of mental health services. Nina had a great love for her family, her friends and her many animals. She loved to sit in the pasture taking care of and playing with her miniature donkey, her horse and her dogs.

Nina had a beautiful voice and was a member of the Yakima Symphony Chorus from 1990-1995 and she was an active member of Temple Shalom in Yakima. She was an extraordinarily caring, kind, compassionate and loving individual with a great sense of humor who would laugh easily. Nina's warm smile and presence in our lives will be forever missed.
