William C. Obrochta, age 82, of Naperville was born September 11, 1934 in Chicago, IL to the late Antonette and Walter Obrochta. Born in Oak Park, IL on May 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Homer L. and Mabel E. (Crum) Sheldon. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict but served stateside at Ft. Worden in Washington state.

He retired after 33 years at the Chicago Transit Authority where he was a bus driver and Superintendent, UtilityFacilities Engineering and Maintenance. He had resided in Clearwater, FL, and Marion, Indiana, before moving to CT in 2010. Besides his wife Myrna of West Hartford, CT, James is survived by his daughter Catherine Clinton of Canton, CT, a son James A. Sheldon Jr. of Sesser, IL, a grandson Michael Skipworth, great grandson Noah Joseph Skipworth both of Macomb, IL, a nephew Richard Sheldon of Montgomery, AL.

Mary Jane (known as MJ or Red to her friends) was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on May 24, 1923, the second of 3 children born to Dr. John L.

and Marguerite (Hough) Olsaver, and grew up in Plymouth, Michigan, where her father was a practicing dentist and her mother a homemaker. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1941, where she was involved in as many activities as she could fit into her schedule. She graduated from Dennison University in 1945, where she was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. While in college she met Sam Showalter, an Army Air Force pilot in training, who she would marry on July 14, 1945, when he returned from the war after being held as a prisoner of war for 1 3 months. They moved to Wheaton, IL, where he had grown up, and settled into life there.

She was a stay at home mom for the first 17 years and then went back into the work force, teaching 5th grade at St. Mark's Catholic school in Wheaton, and when it closed, at St. Michael's, retiring after 15 years of teaching. She and Sam were avid travelers, both internationally and domestically, and made friends everywhere they went. She was an avid sports fan, enjoying all sports, but particularly the CUBS, and was finally able to see them win the World Series.

A talented seamstress, an excellent cook and a great gardener, there wasn't anything that she did not do well. She is survived by her 4 children, Judy Evers (Jim), Jim Showalter (Donna), Cathy DeMara (Kevin McKinney) and Bill Showalter; her 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Mazzone (Don), Erin DeMara (Karen), Shauna DeMara Jason Showalter, and Elizabeth Showalter; and 6 great grandchildren, Anthony Mazzone, Dylan Mazzone, Olivia Mazzone, Sophia DeMara, Lily DeMara, and Elliot DeMara. She was the consummate Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, and will be greatly and forever missed. He married in 1952 and moved to Northbrook in 1955. Verne was a construction estimator for Joseph J. Duffy Company for over 30 years. He was very active at Grace Lutheran Church in Northbrook including serving as an Elder, Board of Education Member and Financial Secretary. He was a member of American Legion Post 791 in Northbrook.

Verne's interests included carpentry, foreign travel, history, especially WWII, model railroads, pinochle, genealogy and watching Westerns. Verne was a loving spouse and dedicated father. He was very outgoing, jovial, had a good sense of humor and always there for his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 20 at Grace Lutheran Church. Peg Rogall, and one brother, Thomas O'Neill. He is lovingly remembered by his seven children; son Kevin, and his wife, Lynn Livesley; daughter Kate, and her husband Dell Herreid; daughter Peg, and her husband John Atchue; daughter Amy, and her husband Larry Staver; son Patrick, and his wife Audrey Kissel; son Sean, and his wife Jennifer Farrington; and youngest son Matt. James will also be remembered by 18 loving grandchildren: Liam, Will, Tess, Anders, Eleanor, Grace, Jack, Maddie, Sam, James, Johnny, Declan, Roman, Frances, Josephine, Violet, Charlie, and Nina; and also one great-grandson, Grady. He leaves behind countless friends.James was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A lifelong Catholic, James attended Marquette High School and also Marquette University, where he met Gretchen.

He is a lifelong fan and personal shareholder of the Green Bay Packers. He spent most of his adult life working in Chicago and residing in Evanston. James worked at various jobs in the financial sector, working for several major banks and consulting firms. His specialty was working with banks that were failing, steering them back toward profitability. In 1975, he was sent to Toronto by The First National Bank of Chicago to oversee the bank's international operations.

During his three-year stint there, among other tasks, he participated in negotiating the financing for the 1976 Montreal Olympics. He spent the final part of his career working in executive search, ultimately building a successful partnership of his own. He was an early and enthusiastic advocate of increased diversity among management in the corporate sector. Near the end of his career, he was very active in volunteer career counseling and outplacement work for the mid-life unemployed through a program at Old St. Pat's Chicago.

In his retirement, he frequently taught a history lecture class on World War II at Oakton Community College. He will be remembered mostly as a man of great humor, a devoted and caring husband and father, and a loyal friend. He instilled in all of his children a great passion for the written word, for history and literature and movies, and for the importance of having an educated interest in the world around them. His children and grandchildren were his greatest source of joy, and his spirit lives on through them. Please join the family for a celebration of James' life: Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 1 :00 p.m.

Ron began his advertising career in Chicago, lived in Evanston, Illinois and ultimately retired as a senior executive at Leo Burnett.

Boating adventures. Wildcat sports, the arts were his passions. He and Greta wintered in Naples, Florida spending time with family and their many friends. Ron lived life to the fullest and raised a most loving, adventurous family along the way.
