Accustomed as we have been to hearing this role taken by a beavy bass, the change to a baritone by no means pott erf ill, wis an unusual and not entirely grateful innovation. Tamaro made a fair Lionel, but his voice is not of the proper quality to give the due effect to the melodies allotted to htm, while his Italian renderings by no means suit the harsh guttata ia of the other artists.
