Nationals, Al-banys, 4. BOSTOX AND PROVIDENCE. The treatment received by the Chicago team at Boston and Providence can be learned from a private letter and telegram received at this office as follows: Boston, June 2. As to the treatment of the Boston Club towards the Chicagos, I would sav that they are not very courteous at least, aud of course you know just how they would act. And as for the Boston audience, they really outdid themselves in trying to see how mean they could act, more especially toward Anson, with all sorts of cat calls, and names unworthy the meanest, most Godforsaken crowd you could Imagine.

If anv of the boys tried to make a play'or run after a ball, the whole audience would rise en masse and shout at top of their lungs. Well, if you ever heard a Boston ball crowd, I can safely say they would easily discount the worst you ever saw. "Now for the umpiring, and I don't believe in kicking about umpiring, but Billv McLean must have tried to see how badly he could do. The boys had no chance to run bases, for in all close decisions Boston got the best of it all the time, every time. He put Burns out once at second and one man out at first when there is not the least doubt but they were safe.

In the Saturday's game he gave Powers a base on balls when all the reporters said he should have been out on strikes, which would have been the third man out, and as there was one man ahead of him, and the next man made a base hit, then Jim O'Rourke made a two-base hit and brought them in three runs, and won the game. In the same game Flint was at the bat and struck at a ball, easily a foot wide. McLean says 'Foul and out'; then as Flint was walking to bis seat he says, 4 No; one and jdld him to go In yesterday's game. June 1, Jim O'Rourke had made a base hit. and Burdock struck a ball over the left held fence Just over the foul line.

The umpire ran up on the line and called foul and motioned them to ga back, which they did. O'Rourke came back to first and Burdock was looking for bis bat. when the crowd raised the worst noise imaginable, yelling like a pack of wild Indians, and hissed, etc. Then McLean says Fair and the boys Jumped on the bases and ran around homo. He then eame up in front of tho reporters' stand, and said: 'The ball went over fair, and the wind blew it The wind was blowing stronir against the ball all the time, which would keep the ball fair, and not blow it foul.

I sup- ose he did not think how thin his excuse would ook. He fined Anson $20, and then said: I take It back, and will see you after the but did not come around. He told Anson to-night that he was a 'little and that he would let it 'And now, In conclusion, I would say that the boys have had a tough time, and it is a wonder that the crowd would let them win at all, for they seemed like the boy that was after the woodebuck, and bound to have the games by fair or foul means, and I have given you my honest views. Whether the treatment to our team here is any different than any other team gets at their hands, I can't say; but they are a bad crowd." The following private dispatch regarding the sixteen-inning game at Providenoe will be read wit interest Providence, R. June 4.

The game was called back to the sixteenth inning after Providence had been retired in the seventeenth and Williamson had made a three-base hit, with no one out. Then the Providence Club insisted on the umpire's calling the game on account of darkness. The sun was then thirty-one minutes high, and but slightly cloudy. Umpiring finest 1 have seen this season up to that time. Mr.

The facts in the caseare-ihat at a late hour Friday night Harry WrijHit telegraphed to President Root, imploring him to release George that he might play with Boston in Saturday's game, the inference being that ho was wanted for that game only. President Root decided to send an affirmative answer, and did so, intimuting that he would lend George to him. George played in the game under the protest of Manager Anson, who claimed that George could not play with the Bostons until the expiration or twentv davs after his release from the Provlrlene pqtiare nanos, arior ans.

10 GREAT COMEDIANS 10 The fact was that the confidence of thepatronsof the game in Boston in the nine was at the lowest ebb, and, unless the team bad mads a commendable showing on Saturday, It is extremely doubtful whether they would have given the ex-champions even a slender support. Wright's presence undoubtedly infused new vigor and enersry iuto the nine, aud thev played far more confidently. Anson's objection is absurd on tho fuce of it, inasmuch as the twenty davs' reservation applies onlv to plavers under contract, whereas Providence held Wright simply by the Buffalo agreement, which prevented him from joining any other League club during the present season unless released casics rvocmnsnam ana i el low ware, open lota. bbls Glassware.
