She spent most of her adult life in Chicago beginning in Ida Wells, then moved to Hyde Park and lastly in Chatham. Ada was an accomplished seamstress and loved to cook. She hosted virtually all of the family holiday gatherings. Several family members would gather around the dining room table for meals she prepared with her special dose of love. Ada was a true matriarch of the family.

Her organizing of regular cookouts was the reason that the many brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins became and remain close to this day. Her and her husband opened their home for several celebrations and family parties. In 1989, she and John moved to the Lakes area in Las Vegas, Nevada until she was called home. Ada was preceded in death by her husband John Strong, her sisters Mabel (John), Joyce, Eva (Otis), Dorothy (Adolph), Victoria (Louis) and Frank (Delores) as well as her adopted son Anthony (Maureen). She leaves to cherish her memories daughters Sylvia (James) and Carolyn (Jessie); her grandsons Tony (Priscilla) and Derek; great-grandchildren Anthony, Rhyan, Dominique, Noelle, Derin and Kyle; great-great-grandchildren Deston, Devyn, and Ava; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
