Tuesdays, beginning Sept 13. The hour-long programs were produced, directed, and edited by Peter Dews of the BBC who performed the same chores for the widely praised series, An Age of Kings, presented last season on channel 11.

A permanent company of actors is used for all three plays, with leading roles taken by Robert Hardy, Beatrix Lehmann, Roland Culver, Barry Jones, Peter Cush-ing, and Mary Morris. The premiere program on Tuesday, "The Hero," presents Acts I and II of "Coriolanus." The cast includes Robert Hardy as the warlike general, Coriolanus, Beatrix Lehmann as his mother, Jerome Willis as the barbarian, TuHus Aufidius, and Roland Culver as Menenhis Agrippa. Dews sees the series as an enactment of three tragedies involving powerful men who, in their political maneuvering for fame and selfish ends, are defeated by the power of Rome. "In these three Roman plays," said Dews, "it is the belief in Rome as an ideal, greater than its upholders and detractors, which invests every line. I have symbolized that idea in the shape of the Roman eagle aloof, golden, and crueL" The beloved, spellbinding classic.

Will the real A Joyful Noise, a program tracing the ways in which men of all nations and all eras have used music to express spiritual exultation, despair, and entreaty, will be told in a 13 program series, Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 14 at 9 p. m. on channel 11. The series, presented by the Church Federation of Greater Chicago, roams from the liturgical chants of ancient Greece to today's protest songs, including programs on early polyphonic music, the great religious works of Bach, Handel, and Mozart, the religious aspects of modern musical theater, and America's religious folk music.

Pierre Salinger, former press secretary to the late President John F. Kennedy and the author of the recently published book, "With Kennedy," will be Bob Cro-mie's guest on Book Beat at 8:30 p. m. Monday on channel 11. Salinger will talk about his relationship with the late President and give his impressions of Kennedy and his administration, ranging from the dark days of the Bay of Pigs to the light touch that was so much a part of the Kennedy years.
