Mr. Walsh, who lived at 3123 W. 101st pL, Evergreen Park, died Thursday in his office at 2225 W. 25th st. He had worked for the CTA 43 years and was in charge of emergency towing and repair work.

He retired from the Chicago force as a supervising captain in 1S63. He joined the force in 1927, was promoted to sergeant in 1933, to lieutenant in 1936, and to captain in 1947. He became deputy chief of traffic in 1943 and remained in that post until taking the state position. He died in his home in Boca Raton, where he had lived since his retirement. He received several commendations and extra compensations during his police career.

Surviving are his widow, Ann; a son, Thomas a student at Florida Atlantic university; six daughters, Mrs. Nancy Offer, Mrs. Michaela McHugh, Mrs. Mary Jo Ma-loney, Peggy Rauch, Kathleen Ann, and Christine Marie O'Donnell; 19 grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.
