When self-employment income is not yet posted to a person's individual account, we accept a copy of his tax return and a canceled check or other evidence that the return was filed.

This way we can process his claim promptly, and pay an accurate benefit amount. Otherwise, we have to wait until the tax return is received from the internal revenue service and posted to his account. Just as a reminder if you go back to your business again, your future earnings reflected by your form 1040 and schedule automatically adjust upward your benefit amount, if your average annual earnings are larger than in the past. Michigan Chicago 60611. Give your, full name, address, and social security number. BY MARJAN P. STANIEC Downtown District Mi.tager, Social Security Administration) (e 1967 by The Chicago Tribune! I am retiring from my real estate busi- ness this fall and filed a claim for retirement benefits. I know why I had to prove my age and marriage for my wife's benefits, but do not understand why I had to submit a copy of my last year's income tax return and schedule and show my canceled check showing I paid the tax.

I thought your official records would show this. Could you explain it to me? A. As you know, a self-employed individual does not file his federal income tax return until after the end of his taxable year. Because of the time needed for the reports to be processed by internal revenue service and later to be posted to our records, information about 1966 self-employment income usually will not be shown on our records until late 1967 or early next year. We cannot figure a person's benefit amount using his 1966 self-employment income without a copy of his tax return to Govkel; tons Drorner or jacqueiyn, Robert and James; grandson of Michael and Pearl Geier and August Govke.
