"IF TORNADOES decrease "I THINK It's awfully early for an April Fool prank. But I guess I should say that I'm a 1 bit dubious about the study, and I would like to see their evidence." Pearson said he had called I the Foundation for Ocean Re-j search in San Diego, where KANSAS CITY, Mo. I PI1- The director of the National Severe Storms Forecast Center Friday scoffed at a study linking tornado frequency with driving on the right side of the road. The study released in London by four California researchers said an increase in cars and trucks driving on the right side of roads in Europe and North America create an unnatural air flow conducive to tornadoes. The study also reported an eastward shift in the traditional "tornado alley" corresponding to the concentration of car and truck traffic in the nation.

"I'm surprised they didn't find the obvious correlation between tornadoes and X-rated movies," Allen Pearson, the forecast center's director, said. "Everyone knows that hot, steamy air is needed for the formation of tornadoes. Missing girl's bones found the four researchers reportedly made the study. He said a secretary there indicated the report may have been made tongue-in-cheek. Pearson said studies by the weather service and private institutions indicate the nation's chief tornado area is moving South and West rather than East.

He said the greatest frequency of funnels is now in the Texas Panhandle. About 15 years ago the alley was centered in the Oklahoma City area, he said. He agreed with the study's findings that tornadoes decrease on the weekend, but he months of searching that they believed someone was keeping her. But Mrs. Peterson told a television station, "It's not the end we prayed for, but it looks like the end of the story." Heidi would have been 5 last New Year's Day.

Detectives returned Friday to search for more clues at the site where the bones were found. The remains and clothing were discovered by Seattle Park Department employes retrieving a garbage can from the bottom of a bluff adjacent to a city park. The bones were found in blackberry bushes. POLICE CAPT. Hcb Swindler said he doubted the body had been in the park since Heidi disappeared, because the park had been searched thoro-ly before.

Lincoln Av. Visitation afler 1 p.m. Sunday. Please omit flowers, on weekends as alleged by the authors of the study, rearson said, "It might be readily explained by the fact that many factories have shut down rather than traffic is leaving the cities. "Certainly truck traffic throws pollution into the air that has an effect on the weather.

Pollution particles serve as the core for rain drops. But if the traffic has an effect on tornadoes, that's a new one on me, and I've been studying tornadoes for more than 25 years." He said turbulence created by two trucks passing was "miniscule" compared to, for example, turbulence generated by the sun beating on a large parking lot. Heidi Peterson mains were put there," he said. Mrs. Peterson last saw her daughter that February afternoon when Heidi played with her brother, Carl, then 2, in front of the family's modest home.

Mrs. Peterson drove to a grocery and about 15 minutes later her husband stepped outside the house to check on the children. "Heidi go," said the boy, sitting alone in the yard. Mrs. Charles Siege Services for Mrs.
