We've got the styles kids want At prices you can afford. baloney disaster movie from the dull folks at Universal Pictures who continue to throw away the big bucks they made two years ago from "Jaws." "Lady" begins with Heston at the helm of a nuclear submarine traveling to port at New London, Conn. The boat is only 60 miles away from home when you guessed it whammo! A Norwegian freighter loses its radar and smacks into the submarine. Glub, glub, glub bubble, bubble, bubble burp splat. The sub is soon resting on a shelf 1,450 feet below water level.

Now I read in another review of "Lady" that Heston, by his mere presence, leads an air of credibility to the proceedings. What a laugh! Precisely the opposite is true. Heston's presence insures a stiff, righteous performance at the center of any movie. He also insures that most everything will turn out all right. Oh, sure, Chuck may have to slap a.

few sailors back to their senses, but don't you worry, after about 110 minutes of travail, at least Chuck Heston will emerge from the deep unscathed to blink his eyes into a watery sunset. Heston means predictability, not credibility. MEANWHILE, back on the submarine, the big question is will the water pressure collapse the hull before the rescue team arrives? What, are you kidding? "Lady" prides itself on its authenticity. The film concludes with a tacked-on screen message that claims that all the rescue manuevers we've seen are capable of being performed by the United States Navy. Far out.

Again, the rescue maneuvers may be real, but inasmuch as the film regularly returns to phony drama in the sunken sub, any drama is immediately interrupted. And when we aren't seeing Heston tell his gobs to stay calm, hack director David Greene chooses to spice up the action by having an earth tremor shake the boat. To watch "Lady" is to mourn how the money we fork over at the box office is being returned to us in entertainment. Here again is Universal Pictures, the wealthiest film company, grinding out its murkily photographed, turgid dramas. "Earthquake," "Midway," "Rollercoas-ter," "Airport 1977," "Two-Minute Warning." What a lineup of stiffs! The only actor who lends an air of credibility to "Lady" is David Carradine of "Kung Fu" TV fame.

Carradine is a feisty sort on screen and off. In this film he plays the rebellious captain of an experimental mini-sub, which is used to remove the earth from on top of the big sub. The first time we see Carradine, he is running along the beach. His assistant (Ned Beatty) calls out to him. No response.

Finally Beatty runs alongside of Carradine and again calls out his name. No answer. Is Carradine deaf? No, he's just putting Beatty on. It's a feeble joke, but it is one of the few moments of real tension in "Gray Lady Down." Clrfs patent strap black and white. $8.99 to $11.99 Boy's dress black and brown leather.

$13.99 to $16.99 'The first Nudie Musical' THIS IS A Juvenile 1975 film, once shelved by Paramount, now being released in Chicago as part of a local distributor's experiment. If "The First Nudie Musical" clicks here, it will go into nationwide release. That means, moviegoers, you have the power to inflict one dismal skin flick on the rest of the country. Don't do it. "The First Nudie Musical" is a flaccid, -rated comedy about a failing movie studio's last-ditch effort to save its lot.

The young son of the studio's founder has been making raunch porno flicks ardesses in Cages," "Cheerleaders in when he hits upon an idea. (This is the kind of film in which we actually hear chimes when somebody gets an idea.) The idea is to make a clean nudie flick, "one with singing and dancing and less licking." A sample lyric of one of the film's songs: "You gotta sing, gotta dance while taking off your pants." Hardee, har-har. The only surprise in "Nudie" is the appearance of Cindy Williams (Shirley of "Laverne and in a leading role as the studio chief's secretary. Williams apparently made this dud before she hit it big on the tube. Also, clean-cut Ronnie Howard (of "Happy makes a brief appearance.
