Visitation Monday, 2 to 9 p.m. 673-6111. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund. By Jack H. Gustafson Socia! Insurance administrator Social Secjrity Administration I am looking forward to my retirement in June.

I pbn to apply in March at the Social Security office near my home to make sure there aren't any delays in my checks or Medicare coverage. I am worried about one thing, however. My employer will send me a substantial check after my retirement. This payment is due me for vacation days I didn't take during my last year of work. Will the receipt of this check mean a loss of one or two Social Security checks after my retirement? A No, it shouldn't cause any reduction in your Social Security checks.

As a general rule, wage payments made after employment has ended count for Social Security deduction purposes in the period in which they were earned, that is, the period prior to retirement. In most cases, this means they will count in the month you last worked and will cause no deduction in your benefits after retirement. However, if you have a copy of your employer's plan that explains these payments you should take it with you when you apply for retirement benefits. The interviewer assisting you in filing your claim will then be able to provide information on what impact, if any, these payments will have on your Social Security checks. What is your Social Security problem? Questions will'be answered in this column by your local Social Security Office.

Address them to Social Security, The Chicago Tribune, 435 N. Michigan Chicago, 111. 60611. Give your full name, address, and Social Security number. DePAOLA Helen C.
