Wednesday in Mary Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church, 1500 S. Cumberland in the suburb. She died Saturday in Elmhurst Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. "Susie was really an inspiration to others," said Jeanne Lenti, De Paul associate director of athletics. "She was very vocal about her goals.

She constantly said you get what you want through hard work. She set some pretty high standards for herself. "When Susie was a senior in 1982 she did not begin the year as a starter on the Lady Blue Demons," Lenti said. "She worked hard and became one. The team was pretty lackluster until she became the starting point guard.

We had some talent under the basket, and she got the ball to them. The result was that the team went to the NWIT and finished sixth. She was the spark plug of the team." "He started as a typewriter repair man when he was 17 or 18 years old," said his daughter, lone Breyer. "He had been working as a die stamper, but he looked at his fingers one day and decided he wanted to keep all of them. He worked well into his 80s and finally quit because he felt he was obsolete. He decided he was too old to learn how to repair electric typewriters and they were beginning to take over." His parents came to Chicago from England in 1883 and his mother was pregnant with him at the time. He grew up on the corner of Clybourn and Ashland Avenues.
